Free Equine Castration Clinic

Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the Isanti County Fairgrounds in Cambridge, MN. This is the fourth clinic offered in Minnesota by the Minnesota Horse Welfare Coalition's Gelding Project. The project was launched in 2009 in response to the growing number of horse‐related animal humane society investigations, and provides equine castration assistance to owners with hardships.

“Own Responsibly Seminar Series” at the MN Horse Expo

This seminar series will be held from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm in the Ramberg Building at the MN Horse Expo. Four hour-long sessions will be presented, including:

  1. Basic needs for acquiring a horse, pasture and manure management
  2. Horse behavior, castration, and simple training principles
  3. Essential health care: farriery, dentistry, vaccinations, and deworming
  4. Nutrition, geriatrics, and end of life issues

Participants who attend all four sessions will be entered into a drawing for 20 castration vouchers, each worth $200 towards the cost of an equine castration. The drawing will take place after the conclusion of the final lecture.  One voucher per family.  Participants must be present to win.
